Services

I take on defined pieces of work rather than open-ended engagements.

See what I can help you with
UX audit

A structured review of an existing product against how people actually use it: the main flows, what breaks down, and a prioritised list of what to fix now, next, and never.

Bring me in when

  • You know something is wrong, but not what
  • You need a case for fixing it that holds up outside the design team
  • The product is technical enough that a generalist would spend the first week catching up
Information architecture and navigation

Products rarely get confusing by design. They accumulate. A structure that worked at twenty screens stops working at two hundred. I rebuild the content model, hierarchy, labels and navigation — and leave the reasoning behind, so your team can keep making these calls without me.

Bring me in when

  • The product has outgrown its own structure
  • Nobody internally can see it clearly any more — you’re all too close to it
  • The hierarchy is deep and the users live in it daily. Enterprise video, asset management, data platforms, scientific tooling: this is the work I’ve done most
End-to-end feature design

One defined feature, from problem to handoff. Framing the options, designing the flows and screens, preparing what developers need to build it. I work with engineering early and often, rather than presenting a finished thing at the end.

Bring me in when

  • A feature matters and you have no designer to spare
  • The domain is technical enough that the requirement isn’t obvious yet
  • Your users know more about their work than any designer will — I’m used to that, and to asking the questions that surface what’s actually being asked for
Clickable prototypes in code

Working front-end prototypes with realistic data, for usability testing, sales demos, or settling an argument before it gets expensive. A prototype built to answer a question — not a codebase built to ship.

Bring me in when

  • A decision is stuck and screenshots aren’t moving it
  • You want to test something before committing engineering to it
  • You need it in days, not a sprint. I design and build it myself, so it costs you no engineering time
Design review and advisory

A few hours a month with your team: reviewing work in progress, pressure-testing decisions, a second opinion before a direction gets locked in.

Bring me in when

  • You have one or two designers and nobody senior for them to argue with
  • A direction is about to be committed to and you want it challenged first
  • You’d rather hear the objection now than review the outcome in three months

Where I’m most useful

Admin consoles, developer and IT tooling, dashboards and data-heavy interfaces, security products — anything with permissions, roles and configuration. I’ve spent over ten years on products where the user is a specialist at work, not a consumer browsing.

Getting in touch

Tell me what the product is and what isn’t working. If it’s something I can help with, I’ll say so and suggest a shape for the work. If it isn’t, I’ll say that too.

Recommendations

Misi is a super senior designer, critical thinker, collaborator who can handle complexity, deeply technical domains and any product design task I can imagine.

I had the luck to work with him at LastPass and if you need someone to handle tough sh*t, I highly recommend reaching out!

– Gábor Hoffer, senior design director, LastPass

Misi is not afraid of a challenge, and he is not afraid to challenge others himself. He thrives in complex domains, that he navigates best when he has the opportunity to really dive in. He has a deep need to understand and dissect problems, as well as available tools and solution spaces. He does his best work when he can collaborate closely with a cross functional team of experts. He’s a strong asset to any UX team.

– Bálint Magyar, direct manager, LastPass

I was very lucky to have a chance to work with Misi, report to him on some projects and learn from his design experience! His contribution to my learning process and support helped me to gain new skills and approaches as a designer. He always did an amazing job striking the right balance between big picture thinking and attention to detail. His approach to critique and feedback, was to continually encourage personal and professional growth, which created an environment of mutual respect. Misi was truly a fun person to work with, a real teammate/ supporter. I hope our paths will cross on future projects again.

– Parvana Isgandarova, intern, Cloudera

During a series of mentorships, Misi provided extensive feedback on my portfolio and ongoing project work. He provided valuable guidance on how to effectively communicate my design decisions. He shared insightful perspectives from experience that enhanced my ability to collaborate within a cross-functional team. He has strong attention to detail and takes a holistic approach when it comes to feedback, consistently providing actionable suggestions that are easily applicable into my work.
